Borrowers’ Certification And Authorization (BA)
A homebuyer will often have many documents that they need to sign in order to proceed to closing with the lender they have chosen. One of these documents is the Borrowers’ Certification And Authorization. You can see an example of this document to the left; there are variations.
The basic purpose of this form is so that the lender can verify the information you have provided during the application process. This form often accompanies a Verification of Employment, a Verification of Rent or Mortgage, and a number of other requests where privacy issues could arise. This form lets the provider of this private information know that you have authorization to receive this information.
This form does NOT allow the provider of this private information to furnish it to a third party. This form also does NOT allow the named party who has been authorized to receive this information the authority to provide it to a third party. These two statements may seem obvious but the safeguarding of private information is the concern and responsibility of the authorized party. This form is very specific as to whom information is being requested about and to whom it may be provided.
