Are You Part of History in the Making?

In the following post Danny Thornton uses the swearing in of Barack Obama as the 44th U.S. President to highlight the ability we in the real estate industry have to make history on a smaller level. Listening to our customers wants and needs allow us to play a role in the history of our clients. Similarly, the role we play in the life of our clients can translate into our part in the larger scheme of economic recovery. Being a competent real estate professional that can help our clients realize the responsibility of home ownership is a major part we can play in helping the economy.

Retweet this postToday represents history being made. Today, the first African-American will be sworn in as the President of the United States. Today is the Inaugural Day that many of us have been waiting on. Not only are we swearing in the first African-American President, but we will also have our very first African-American First Lady. Today is truly a day
of first and I can proudly say that I am glad to witness it.
As much as I could continue in the political realm of firsts, this is not a political post. The opening comment is only used to set the table and no more. The reason I bring this up is we have an opportunity unlike many professions. We have the opportunity to be part of history in the making daily. The real question is, do we embrace that opportunity?
Now, for some of you, you are wondering just what I am referring too? Well, that is a simple answer. Home ownership is part of history in the making for a lot of people; the customer being the main one. You never know if you are selling that customer a house that they will live in it for the next 5 years or if it is a house that they will grow old in. This is why we owe it to our customers to listen to their needs, desires, and wants.
Yesterday, I wrote a post on PREP entitled NAR Not Sitting Back. The reason that I mention this article on Positive Real Estate Professionals is this; NAR is not willing to sit on the sidelines and be a spectator. They are actively pursuing a part of history in the making. Everyone that is in the Real Estate or Mortgage Industry needs to do the very same thing. If you are not going to do it, then maybe it is time to find a new career.
of first and I can proudly say that I am glad to witness it.
