Recently, I had a chance to have a sit down with Sherri Troutman of Certainty Home Inspections. Sherri is the wife of William Troutman. He is the main inspector with them and Sherri is the office manager. Sherri has also been the driving force behind their website and the blogging. Below is how the interview went.

How did you start blogging?

After I had a new website made for our company I quickly realized I would have to know how to maintain it so with some help from Bonnie Lelak and PREP, I was taught the fundamentals of blogging. I was very surprised at how easy it is to maintain a website and to blog. I actually have fun with the blogging process and am now always looking for topics to blog on where ever I go. I now take more pictures, videos, I pay more attention to the thoughts I have and learn from the information I gather in the blogging process.

What happened then?

I discovered that I really enjoyed being able to maintain our website and quickly went to work filling our website full of important information to help the home buyers in Indiana and Kentucky learn about the home inspection process and the importance of having a home inspection performed with Certainty Home Inspections.

How did that help you?

Initially Bonnie started me out in blogging but soon PREP took over. With Danny and Rich’s help I have been able to do update my website far beyond what I ever expected. They have taught me so much about blogging, videos and set up of the website to learning about SEO’s and how important they are to the blogging process. Without the help of my blogging friends, I wouldn’t be as educated as I am today.

What advice would you give other home inspectors?

To anyone who is involved in the real estate segment of today’s world, sign up with PREP and let them show you what they can do for your business. Not only have I learned how to maintain my website, blog, import pictures and videos but they have helped to bring my rankings to the #1 spot on Google. PREP is well worth the money, you won’t be disappointed!
