Great Web Site………………………
We have been told about a great web site to help save money on groceries. One of the people in our office told us about it. It is www.grocerysmarts.com in Utah the pass code is c84cdp, which from what I understand is good for the entire state. We like the site because it lines up the coupons with the store advertised specials and lists them by store so that you can do your comparison shopping from your computer.
I know that as of 10 seconds ago there were codes on the home page for Idaho, Washington, California and Arizona. Although the code is helpful and localized, you don’t need the code for the manufacturers coupons. This site even allows you to print out coupons that are accepted at the stores. We have only just begun to utilize this, but thought that it was valuable enough to share with everyone! Have a great weekend!

Parowan Happenings…….
Tonight at a town hall meeting honoring Parowan’s 159th Birthday, the town will also honor it’s outstanding citizens’ of the year. This year’s recipients are Clarence and Wanda Benson. They have been actively involved in many organizations in Parowan for many, many years.
From a personal perspective no more humble, hard working, honest people exist not only in Parowan, but anywhere. Wanda for years has attended every funeral that has taken place in either Parowan or Paragonah. Also she has attended most of the weddings taking place in either town. To his friends (which is honestly everyone) Clarence is known as “Stiffy”, a nickname he has had his entire life.
Wanda is a former City Council Member, and actively involved at that time with the Library Board. They have both been involved for many years identifying and marking the graves of each of the Veterans buried in Parowan.
Clarence or “Stiffy” is my mother’s older brother. From my point of view there are no more deserving people in Parowan. He is a Veteran of the Korean War era, holding the distinction of being the first one in Parowan drafted for that War.
Proud parents of Debbie, Denise and Patrick and even prouder Grandparents of their two grandchildren, an honor that in my opinion is extremely well deserved and probably long overdue!

Parowan Rock Church
In doing our series of Churches in the Cedar City Area, I am including the Old Parowan Rock Church. It is no longer a Church, rather it is a museum about the settlers of not only Parowan, but of all of Southern Utah. The Church was completed in 1867 and served as an LDS Meetinghouse until the 1920’s. It was restored in the 1940’s and has been used as a museum since I can remember.
It is located in the Town Square in Parowan, near the Parowan Library.

This Church is located on 200 North near the downtown area of Cedar City.
The next Church that I am highlighting today is the Calvary Chapel in Cedar City. It is located near the airport on airport road in Cedar City.
Again these two Churches and thier congregations are such a great benefit to our community! We are blessed greatly by the diversity of Denominations here!

Christmas Lights…Downtown Cedar City.
I went downtown about a half an hour ago and took a few photos of the lights downtown.
This is looking south down Main Street in Cedar City. I should charge the Best Western for advertising for them!
I left this one blurry on purpose, I thought that it was a little more interesting than just being standard photo. This arch is the Main Street Park in Cedar City.
A light Deer Family gathering around the Christmas Tree!
Happy Holidays to all!

Cedar City Churches…..Actually Churches in Parowan..
Continuing with our series on area Churches, I went North to Parowan to get some photos of some of the Churches that bless that community. Parowan is the county seat in Iron County, and is 18 miles North of Cedar City. It is a community of around 3000 residents and still maintains a lot of it’s small town charm with several great older homes, and friendly atmosphere.
This is the Parowan United Methodist Church. It is located on Main Street across from Parowan High School. As you can see it is housed in one of Parowan’s great older homes.
This is the Grace Christian Church. If you Ski at Brian Head, you have most likely passed this Church it is on 200 South.

Today I have spread out a little and gone into Enoch, which is 5 miles North of Cedar City. The first that I am highlighting is the Valley Bible Church.

There are 3 homes listed(through another office) in the subdivision. They range from $169K to $239K and are on lots of .15 acres.
The lots in the subdivison range from the .15 size and go up to half acre lots.

Parowan Homes……
My mother was born and raised in Parowan, Utah. There are some great old homes in Parowan that I have admired my entire life. We thought that we would highlight some of them as we have done some of our local subdivisions. I hope that you enjoy them!
This is the Coates Cottage, it is used occasionally as a recepting center among other things, it is currently listed at $209K
This is another of the great historic homes in Parowan.
I have always loved the porch on this home!
This home was originally My Great-Aunt’s home.
These are just a few of the great historic homes that can be found if one wanders through the streets in Parowan. Darcy and I wanted to give you an idea of the beautiful ambience that is Parowan. There may be another blog forthcoming with other beautiful, historic homes!

Cedar City Area Churches….
Continuing with our appreciation of the diverse churches that enrich our community we are highlighting two more denominations. One of the Churches, The Trinity Lutheran Church is just around the corner from our house. It is also near the Elementary School.
Again there are great vistas from this Church.
The other Church that we are highlighting today is the Church of Christ. It is located at the Southern side of Cedar City.
