Wow 22 Million Americans sick from Swine Flu
November 13, 2009 by blelak
Filed under INDUSTRY NEWS THAT COULD AFFECT YOU
As IASQ providers (Certified Indoor Air Quality and Surface Providers) with IHI Home Inspections, we have been going around in the North Atlanta area, testing and educating people about a technology that over 25 years of research and development has gone into the XMICROBE solution and it is just now being brought to the consumer by local individuals and small business owners. We have solutions for home owners and business owners who want to take a pro active stance in providing their families and clients a long lasting powerful protective solution when it comes to the battle against, swine flu, MRSA, E-coli and many other germs and bacteria.
It really saddens me when I read articles like the one below where there are so many sick and I have no way of getting the information out there that there is a long lasting solution that will help the situation. We have a letter from the EPA stating that we help fight against the H1N1 viruses and new providers for the Healthier Environment Living Program are getting on board all across the US.
WASHINGTON – Swine flu has sickened about 22 million Americans since April and killed nearly 4,000, including 540 children, according to startling federal estimates released Thursday.
The figures — roughly a quadrupling of previous death estimates — don’t mean swine flu suddenly has worsened, and most cases still don’t require a doctor’s care. Instead, the numbers are a long-awaited better attempt to quantify the new flu’s true toll.
“I am expecting all of these numbers, unfortunately, to continue to rise,” said Dr. Anne Schuchat of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. “We have a long flu season ahead of us.”
And tight supplies of vaccine to combat the illness continue: Not quite 42 million doses are currently available, a few million less than CDC had predicted last week.
A new Associated Press-GfK poll shows nearly one in six parents has gotten at least some of their children vaccinated against swine flu since inoculations began last month. Another 14 percent of parents sought vaccine, but couldn’t find any.
Only about 30 percent of children routinely get flu vaccinations during a normal winter. That even this many have gotten vaccinated against the new flu that scientists call the 2009 H1N1 strain despite the shortage suggests CDC’s target-the-young message has gotten through.
But three times as many adults have tried and failed to find vaccine for themselves as have succeeded.
“I know they’re trying their hardest,” Joy McGavin of Pittston, Pa., said of the CDC’s vaccine efforts. She hasn’t yet found vaccine for her three children despite a persistent hunt — even though she and her youngest child are at extra risk because of chronic illnesses.
“But it is kind of frustrating, being as my children’s school already shut down” because of a big outbreak, McGavin said.
And interest among the young adults who also are at high risk is waning fast, found the AP-GfK poll of 1,006 adults nationwide.
Thursday, Schuchat again urged patience in seeking vaccine.
“It’s a marathon and not a sprint,” she said. “More vaccine is being ordered and delivered and used every day.”
Until now, the CDC has conservatively estimated more than 1,000 deaths and “many millions” of new H1N1 infections. The agency was devoting more time to battling the pandemic than to counting it, and earlier figures were based on laboratory-confirmed cases even as doctors largely quit using flu tests months ago — and experts knew that deaths from things like the bacterial pneumonia that often follows flu were being missed.
Thursday’s report attempts to calculate the first six months of the new H1N1 strain’s spread, from April through mid-October. The CDC said:
_Some 98,000 people have been hospitalized from this new flu or its complications, including 36,000 children, 53,000 adults younger than 65 and 9,000 older adults.
_Deaths could range from a low of 2,500 to as many as 6,100, depending on how the data’s analyzed. CDC settled on 3,900 as the best estimate.
_Some 8 million children have become ill, 12 million adults younger than 65 and 2 million older adults.
In a typical winter, seasonal flu strains cause 200,000 U.S. hospitalizations and 36,000 deaths, the vast majority in people over 65. Seasonal influenza doesn’t usually start circulating until November while swine flu began a big climb in September, leading to what CDC called unprecedented high levels of illness so early in a season — and no way to know when the flu will peak.
The estimate of child deaths may seem especially surprising, considering the CDC’s conservative count of lab-confirmed deaths a week ago was 129.
“We don’t think things have changed from last week to this week,” Schuchat stressed, explaining the importance of looking beyond those lab counts. It’s “a better estimate for the big picture of what’s out there.”
The question now is what effect those estimates will have on a public that largely views swine flu as not that big a threat. Read the rest of the story here.
Here’s the GOOD NEWS! Protecting your home or business from dangerous bacteria, germs, staph and other viruses is easier than ever with XMICROBE™ unique antimicrobial technology.

Hotel Owners Using the Xmicrobe technology have a competitive edge over the competition
This is a typical story we see in the news regularly about the hotel industry…and consumers are worried!
(CBS) Now that summer is just about here, more families will be spending time in hotel rooms.
While they might look clean, and you’d like to believe they are, the truth is they’re probably teaming with germs, says Travel + Leisure Family magazine Senior Consulting Editor Mark Orwoll.
A lot of travelers assume a hotel bathroom may not be as clean as their own, that germs may linger on the carpets or the bedspread, but few people think twice about the room’s light switch. That’s right, the light switch!
Sheets are regularly laundered and changed, and showers scrubbed, but it’s unlikely that hotel maids are wiping down hard surfaces such as doorknobs and light switches, alarm clocks, ice buckets or hotel-inscribed pens.
Cold viruses, e. coli and other icky germs can live on hard surfaces for a day or longer. This means if the person who stayed in the room before you had a cold, there’s a chance you’ll get sick too.
What about hotel beds?
Many people assume that bedspreads in particular are teaming with germs. These people are right, Orwoll says. Bedspreads aren’t routinely washed, so you should take them off the beds and stash them in the corner. If you’re cold, ask for another blanket.
So what is the solution for hotel owners?
The real solution is to take a different approach to managing the environment inside your hotel!
And the Healthier Environment Living Program™ is just what you need!
It makes complete sense to take a “holistic approach” to determine what kind of germs, bacteria, viruses and microorganisms are present in your hotel before determining what type of actions are needed to keep your facility as germ and bacteria free as possible.
And your local IASQ™ Indoor Air and Surface Quality Certified Inspector Professional will do just that!
Before any “solutions” are recommended, air and surface sampling will be conducted in order to determine what type of issues that you face in your hotel.
As soon as the test results are back from the EPA Certified Laboratory, your local IASQ™ Indoor Air and Surface Quality Certified Inspector Professional will sit down with you and go over the test results. Based on the test results received, a custom solution will be designed for your hotel.
Your custom solution will definitely include an antimicrobial treatment with H.E.L.P.’s trademarked XMICROBE™ solution!
You see, protecting your hotel from bacteria, mold and mildew is easier than ever with XMICROBE™ unique antimicrobial technology.
Our XMICROBE™ Technology offers an antimicrobial protection that works every minute of every day with just one simple application and it’s affordable and long-lasting.
XMICROBE™ Technology creates a durable bond to the surfaces of your hotel preventing further growth, spreading of bacteria and cross-contamination. Protect the customers in your hotel and ease your mind as XMICROBE™ Technology works to control Microbial growth.
The antimicrobial treatment is perfect for:
Kitchens Dining Rooms
Bathrooms Bar Areas
Offices Guest Rooms
Workout Facilities Pool Areas
Game Rooms Meeting Rooms
Laundry Rooms Janitorial Areas
What will the XMICROBE™ Technology do for Your hotel?
- XMICROBE™ Technology continuously fights the growth of microbes that can make your guests and employees sick!
- XMICROBE™ Technology protection makes the surfaces in your hotel easier to clean and keeps them cleaner in between cleanings.
- XMICROBE™ Technology is applied to porous and nonporous surfaces and is difficult wash off!
- XMICROBE™ Technology is engineered to provide continuous antimicrobial protection for an extended period of time.
- Why is using XMICROBE™ antimicrobial treatment better than using poisonous chemicals to keep your restaurant cleaner and more germ-free?
Conventional cleaning products penetrate living cells and kill by way of poisoning or chemically altering the organism. They are designed to act quickly and dissipate quickly to avoid adverse affect humans and animals due to their toxic ingredients.
Most commercial antimicrobials used for treating building services do a good job of killing some bacteria and fungi, although most of them have a limited spectrum of effectiveness.
And heavy metal-based antimicrobials, such as silver ion may leach into the environment and lose their effectiveness over time.
But XMICROBE™ Technology takes a totally unique approach.
It provides long-term control of growth on treated services. The surface itself is actually modified to make it to antimicrobial active.
Plus, the XMICROBE™ Technology assists in preventing Biofilm build up. Biofilm build up on an irregular surface accumulates over time and offers a difficult to clean surface with a microbial food source. But the XMICROBE™ Technology reduces the Biofilm build up making the surface easier to clean with no microbial food source!
You’re probably wondering how the XMICROBE™ Technology works, so check this out…
XMICROBE™ Technology is a trademarked, EPA registered revolutionary new product. And it prevents the growth of an amazingly wide array of bacteria, mold, mildew, algae and yeast.
XMICROBE™ Technology acts like a bed of microscopic spikes that pierces the cell walls of microbes. This is a totally new approach to providing long-lasting antimicrobial protection.
XMICROBE™ Technology is unique. One end of its molecule creates a strong bond with a multitude of surfaces, porous and nonporous, forming a highly durable protective coating. The other end of the molecule forms a microscopic bed of spikes that punctures microbes like a bed of nails.
XMICROBE™ Technology physically ruptures the cell walls of these microbes, without the use of poisons.
Since XMICROBE™ Technologies methodology is mechanical instead of poisons, it does not create “Superbugs,” which are microbes that build up a resistance to treatment.
XMICROBE™ Technologies molecular spikes are long chains of atoms that are large enough to pierce the cell walls of various microbes. Being only about 1000 the diameter of a human hair, they are too small to harm large cells in mammals.
These chains of atoms carry a strong positive charge that attracts negatively charged bacteria. XMICROBE™ Technology has been found in independent testing to be effective against a wide array of microbes, including H1N1 (swine flu virus), MRSA, VRE, Staphylococcus arias, E. coli, various Salmonella strains, black mold, athletes foot, influenza A., skin infections, and many others.
Here’s the bottom line…
If you want a cleaner, healthier hotel, with happier guests and employees you need the Healthier Environment Living Program™.
So give us a call Today at 404-788-2581 and we’ll get a IASQ™ Indoor Air and Surface Quality Certified Inspector Professional to visit you right away, so that you can provide a Healthier Environment for your guests and employees!

No Livestock Deaths from Salmonella in Over Twelve Months

As an owner operator of dairies, we are always looking for the best products and procedures for the cleaning and sanitation of our facilities. We are very conscientious in the protection of the environment and strive to use “Green” technologies in our product, livestock and land management.
In the late part of 2007 and into 2008, one of our facilities had an episode of Salmonella effecting two month old calves. We lost forty (40) plus calves in a nine (9) month period of time and were spending $1,500.00 to $2,000.00 a month on medications, plus veterinary and additional labor costs. The surviving calves were experiencing weight losses and affecting our bottom line.
One day in August of 2008, at one of my son’s baseball games, I was talking with a fellow parent, Brice Canaday who owns CCS and is a H.E.L.P. service provider. Through conversation our Salmonella issue came up. Brice informed me that he was having success with a program his service company was providing in regards to schools, offices and medical facilities.
I invited him to our facilities for a tour and to see if he could offer us any advice. Upon his arrival, he supplied us with information on H.E.L.P technologies, showing the effectiveness on numerous bacteria’s including Salmonella.
Brice outlined an on going treatment program custom made to our facility. Since the August of 2008, implementation of the H.E.L.P. Program, we have not lost a single calf to Salmonella.
This “Green”, non-leaching technology, along with a tailor made facility specific program, our bottom line has increased and we have the piece of mind knowing we are protecting the environment.

Sick and Tired of Fighting Germs in Nursing Homes
November 2, 2009 by blelak
If you run a nursing home, you already know that “Super Bugs” are one of the toughest problems you face today… Well now we have a better idea and a better way!
A Johns Hopkins study of adult patients admitted to The Johns Hopkins Hospital showed that patients who resided in nursing homes or other kinds of long-term care facilities at any time within the last six months were far more likely than other adult patients to carry or be infected with a drug-resistant superbug.
The study, conducted over a four-month period in 2006, was intended to grasp the extent of one of the lesser known hospital superbugs, multidrug-resistant Acinetobacter (MDR-ACIN), and control its spread among the hospital’s most vulnerable adult patients. More than 1,600 were screened within 24 hours of admission to any one of five intensive care units where previous infections had been recorded.
Results showed that patients who had been in nursing homes, either admitted to Hopkins directly from a long-term care facility or transferred from home or another community hospital, were 12 times more likely than other patients to be carriers of the bacterium. Rates were even higher, 22 times, among those patients who were wheelchair- or bed-bound because their legs were paralyzed.
What mostly surprised researchers was that a majority of the MDR-ACIN-colonized patients, who ranged in age from 19 to 74, also carried high rates of three other, more common superbugs. Sixty-two percent had methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), 77 percent had vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus (VRE), and 39 percent had extended-spectrum beta-lactamase (ESBL) gram-negative bacteria.
“Our results dramatically illustrate how widespread these drug-resistant bacteria have become among health care facilities in just the last decade,” says Lisa Maragakis, M.D., the hospital epidemiologist who led the investigation. “This is only going to complicate our efforts to get a grip on the problem, and it is going to place added pressure on all hospitals and other health care facilities to increase and fine-tune their surveillance and control measures.”The immediate danger to patients from superbugs is that they can lead to potentially dangerous bloodstream infections, says Perl, a professor of medicine and pathology at The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.

As Certified Indoor Air Quality and Surface Providers with IHI Home Inspections, we are all the time hearing or reading articles where sickness and infections are out of control. We just ran across the following article online, where Buford Elementary school is closed due to what the county says is ” a stomach bug”. As a new representative I recently spoke to one of the elementary schools in Cherokee County about adding XMICROBE™ unique antimicrobial technology to their schools cleaning process. I was affraid that it was going to be a difficult thing to get into the schools and I was right. In the mean time there are more children getting sick, teachers and the school custodians are fighting to keep the schools clean with products that are not long lasting. The XMICROBE™ Technology offers an antimicrobial protection that works every minute of every day with just one simple application and it’s affordable and long-lasting. The XMICROBE™ Technology works by creating a durable bond to the surfaces of your home or business preventing further growth, spreading of bacteria and cross-contamination. And the list of bacteria and germs that it helps prevent includes H1N1, the dreaded Swine Flu and many other sicknesses.
p BUFORD, Ga. – A Gwinnett County elementary school
will be closed Friday after a record number of students called out or went home sick.
Parents of children at Harmony Elementary School received a letter Thursday afternoon stating that the school would be closed Friday. The closure come after about a fifth of the students at the school exhibited flu-like symptoms.
Gwinnett County Public Schools spokesman Jorge Quintana said that they don’t believe that the outbreak is H1N1
, but rather Gastroenteritis which is more commonly referred to as stomach flu.
Quintana said that the school will be scrubbed down and will be ready to reopen Monday morning. However, they ask parents not to send their children to school if they are still experiencing symptoms.
Teachers and staff also should not report to school Friday. Here is the link to the original article: http://www.11alive.com/news/local/story.aspx?storyid=136918&catid=3

Dentist Adopts Latest Technology in Antimicrobial Protection

The following wonderful testimony was submitted from one of the Healthier Environment Living Program providers in New York. As a brand new Atlanta provider of the Healthier Environment Living Program and the XMICROBE™ technology we love hearing the success stories of others as we also create our own. There are so many wonderful ways and uses that business owners all over the Atlanta area can benefit from using the XMICROBE™ technology to be proactive in their clients health and care.
Dr. Steven Bellantese DDS, is proud to be the first medical professional in Westchester County, NY, to adopt the Healthier Environment Living Program at his office in Bronxville.
Services and article offered by Jeffrey Molloy – IASQ Certified Inspector Professional
Company: Advanced BioShield
Email: checkmarkservice@aol.com

“I consider myself to be an ‘early adopter’ of new technologies” Dr. Bellantese confessed; “I am always looking for the best way to serve my patients with the latest dental techniques and the best materials.” (Dr Bellantese likes to stay ahead of the curve.)
As with most practitioners, Dr. Bellantese gets new patients through referrals from existing patients and other professionals. . “I want patients to know that I have their best interests in mind and that I am proactive in protecting their health on several levels” , ” I like the fact that XMICROBE is applied to ALL types of surfaces – especially hard to protect surfaces like carpets and furniture.” With XMICROBE taking care of the little things Dr. Bellantese can concentrate on the big things -his patients!
One important aspect of the H.E.L.P. program that helped him make his decision to apply the system was the fact that XMICROBE products are water based and environmentally friendly. He liked the idea that products are shipped in “condensed” form and mixed on site. This allows for less material waste and lower shipping weights – all good for the environment. Also important was the fact that the XMICROBE protectant was non-chemical in its anti-microbial technology – “Nowadays people tend to shy away from poisons and chemicals whenever possible, so the mechanical kill properties of the product fit perfectly with an ecological mindset – I like that.

Harmful Bacteria May Hide On Soft Surfaces In Your Home
October 20, 2009 by blelak
Filed under HOW THE XMICROBE™ TECHNOLOGY CAN HELP YOU
As a H.E.L.P. Inspector and a certified IASQ (Indoor Air & Surface Quality) professional when I ran across the following article it got me to thinking about my own home and environment. Once we became associated with the Healthier Environment Living Program we immediately treated our own home. This was before the kids went back to school. I am happy to say that everyone in our home as been healthier and happier. Our son did pick up a stomach bug from school and while I heard about others having problems for days, my sons only lasted a day. I truly believe that the XMICROBE™ Technology prevented the germs from spreading through the rest of the family. I’m also very glad to say that when we treated our home, the sofa was one of the items my husband hit and needless to say, when my son ended up sick, the sofa is where he spent 95% of his time. Thank goodness it had been treated. Now I’m not saying that we won’t ever get sick, because we’re not in a plastic bubble, we live in the real world where germs and bacteria are. What I am sure of is, anything germs that we pick up on the outside, has less of a chance surviving and growing inside our home.
Here’s the article From HealthNewsDigest.com
Family Health
Aug 18, 2009 – 9:19:45 AM
(HealthNewsDigest.com)-Your family may not be the only ones getting comfy and cozy on the sofa. The soft, comfortable places where families relax and play at home can harbor thousands of bacteria. In fact, Staphylococcus bacteria can live on soft surfaces for 24 hours.
“Bacteria can be found just about everywhere around the home-on both hard and soft surfaces alike,” says pediatrician Dr. Laura Jana. “While many families take aim at bacteria on hard surfaces such as kitchen and bathroom counter tops, soft surfaces tend to fly under the radar during cleaning routines.”
Some commonly overlooked household soft surfaces include:
Sofas-Since kids spend a significant amount of time playing, sleeping and eating on the sofa, bacteria tends to accumulate on this piece of furniture. However, a recent survey from the Hygiene Council found that the majority (61 percent) of Americans sanitized their sofa only a few times, if at all, since it was purchased.
Mattresses-Families commonly think that washing their sheets is enough to keep their beds clean. However, people shed bacteria-harboring skin cells onto their mattress each night when they sleep, which becomes especially problematic when someone is sick.
Pillows-Any surface where people rest their heads is bound to be filled with bacteria, especially surfaces that are consistently used, such as pillows. The mouth, nose and ears are vulnerable orifices that rub against pillows and pick up bacteria left behind by previous users.
Fabric Shoes-Shoes are in constant contact with the ground, which is known to be one of the dirtiest surfaces, but it’s not just the sole of the shoe that collects grime. The fabric surface on shoes also harbors bacteria that is easily transferred when tying your laces or slipping on your heel.
